Darwen - 1960's
In the 1960/70's Darwen was reinventing itself following the demise of the town's cotton industry. The town's main claim to fame is that Gandhi visited the mill workers here in the September 1931. The workers took to Gandhi, much to the annoyance of his hosts, the mill owners!!
Another interest nugget is that the library was officially opened in May 1908 by Andrew Carnegie, who had donated £8000 to built it.
